On November 24, 2022, the Kandrat Krapiva Institute of Art History, Ethnography and Folklore hosted a round table «Yakub Kolas in National Culture and Art» dedicated to the 140th birthday of the national poet of Belarus.
The participants of the round table discussed a number of important issues. Among them: Yakub Kolas’s work in the context of the formation and traditions of Belarusian literature of the twentieth century; the role and significance of the Yakub Kolas’s work in the development of the modern Belarusian language; Yakub Kolas’s scientific activity in Belarusian linguistics; screen adaptation and stage adaptation of the Yakub Kolas’s works; Yakub Kolas’s work in Belarusian music; the personality and images of Yakub Kolas in works of fine art.
During the round table, an exhibition from the funds of the Yakub Kolas State Literary and Memorial Museum «There, to the West!» (Oboyan – Minsk) on the 100th anniversary of the Yakub Kolas’s return to Belarus (1921–2021) was held and also the presentation of the book «I lived for you, I live for you...» and the performance of the musical chapel of the Center for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Researches under the direction of Galina Pavlovna Tsmyg with works by Belarusian composers to the words of Yakub Kolas took place.
