New laboratory for the development and production of electronic components for microelectronics opens at the Research Institute of Radiomaterials

On December 23, 2022, a Branch laboratory for the Development of Critical Technologies for the Production of Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) and ultrahigh frequency (UHF) Electronic Components was opened on the basis of the Minsk Research Institute of Radiomaterials of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. This is a new ultramodern production aimed at the development of microelectronics and import substitution. It is unique for our country. The ceremony was attended by the leadership representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Minsk City Executive Committee, directors of organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, representatives of ministries and departments.

As Sergey Chizhik, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, noted during the opening of the new laboratory, the volume of microelectromechanical systems production will be sufficient for the domestic market of Belarus. "Belarus is reaching the highest technological level of production. The new laboratory will produce microelectromechanical systems (MEMS). These are very small, but important products. They are used for the production of sensors, transducers and other «smart» things with sensitive elements", Sergey Chizhik said.

The commissioning of the laboratory was timed to the 40th anniversary of the Minsk Research Institute of Radiomaterials.
