Off-site press event Advanced National Developments in Mechanical Engineering held

On January 13, 2023, a visiting press event was held at the premises of the United Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on the topic Advanced National Developments in Mechanical Engineering.

Representatives of about 20 mass media of Belarus and Russia took part in the press tour. Deputy General Directors Oleg Yelovoy, Alexander Belevich, Alexey Shmelev, employees of the Institute told about the latest developments and achievements of scientists.

Oleg Yelovoy, Deputy Director General of the United Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Scientific Work and Innovation, told reporters that the first serial electric trucks will be released in Belarus this year. The new high-tech products will be the machines of the Minsk Automobile Plant with a lifting capacity of 4.4 tons, in the development of which academic scientists are actively involved. It is planned to implement 10 innovative machines, and if there is demand, then more. Alexander Belevich, Deputy General Director for Highly Automated Electric Transport, noted that at the moment the institute focuses on asynchronous motors, which are made from materials available in Belarus and Russia. He also added that in 2022, an experimental sample of a commercial electric truck of frame-panel construction with a load capacity of up to 1 ton with full localization of development and production was created. Alexey Shmelev, Deputy Director General for Scientific Work, said that, in addition to the technical component, the Institute's employees are working on the design of passenger and cargo electric cars. Today, the external component of objects is being developed using modern technologies, including augmented reality technology. The main staff engaged in computer modeling are young specialists of the Academy of Arts and BNTU.
