Plenary session of the Congress of Young Scientists of Belarus and Russia

On March 29, 2023, a plenary session was held – the main event of the Congress of Young Scientists of Belarus and Russia.

About 500 researchers from two countries took part in its work. The Presidents of Belarus and Russia sent greetings to the participants of the Congress. They were read out by Maxim Ryzhenkov, First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, and Boris Gryzlov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus.

Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; Dmitry Mezentsev, State Secretary of the Union State; Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute; Vladislav Panchenko, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Denis Sekirinsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia; Irina Starovoitova, member of the Presidium of the Council of the Republic; Andrey Ivanets, Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus; Alexander Lukyanov, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian Youth Union; Nikita Marchenkov, Chairman of the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in the Scientific and Educational Spheres of the Presidential Council of Russian Federation for Science and Education; Roman Ivanov, Director of the Scientific Center for Translational Medicine, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Technological Development of the University Sirius, delivered reports and greetings at the Congress. The results of the work of the Congress sections were summed up by Stanislav Yuretsky, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the NAS of Belarus. The Congress was attended by heads of ministries and departments, leading scientists of the two countries.

The State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev, who spoke to journalists, called the Congress of Young Scientists of the two countries a unique event. Many young scientists who worked in the laboratories of research institutes and centers yesterday are checking plans and giving birth to new ideas at the congress in Minsk today. They can be used in the development of the real sectors of the economy of Russia and Belarus and will ensure the technological sovereignty and independence of our countries. Speaking at the Congress of Young Scientists of Russia and Belarus, the Russian Ambassador to Belarus noted that the results of the work of scientists of the Union State are already "finding their application in the real sector of the economy of Russia and Belarus." Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute, stressed: "The level of science development in Belarus is very good. Unlike us, the Soviet foundations were not destroyed here. Of course, due to the smaller size of the country, Belarus cannot afford to develop such a huge range of scientific directions as Russia. Nevertheless, the key areas of science are developed at a high global level in the republic."

Following the results of the Plenary session of the Congress of Young Scientists of Belarus and Russia, its participants adopted the draft final document of the Congress.
