On March 29, 2023, within the framework of the Congress of Young Scientists of Belarus and Russia, Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute, met.

The leadership of the two leading scientific institutions discussed the development of mutually beneficial scientific and technical cooperation and further intensification of joint research by scientists of the two countries.

Mikhail Kovalchuk was awarded the breastplate of distinction named after V.M. Ignatovsky of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The scientist was awarded a high award for his significant personal contribution to the development of fruitful scientific cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Kurchatov Institute.
