The Institute of Radiobiology of the NAS of Belarus hosted the International Conference Radiobiology and Environmental Safety 2023 on May 25–26.

Academic Secretary of the Department of Medical Sciences of the NAS of Belarus Vasily G. Bogdan took part in the opening of the conference and delivered a welcoming speech. The conference was held in a hybrid mode: reports with personal participation and online reports. The conference was attended by scientists from 65 scientific and practical organizations of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and the Czech Republic. The program included 67 oral reports (8 plenary and 59 sectional).

The purpose of the conference is to discuss the current state of science in the field of radiobiology, radioecology, radiation and environmental safety. The topics of the conference are extensive and covered the impact assessment of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation of various ranges on organisms and ecosystems, biomedical aspects of the radiation effects, problems of gerontology and radiation aging, modeling the behavior of the technogenic radionuclides and other pollutants in the environment, the development of new monitoring methods, formation patterns analysis of radiation doses of biota and humans, ways to reduce them, topical issues of environmental risk forecasting and management, problems of social and ecological development in areas of ecological distress.

Following the results of the forum, a resolution was adopted. A collection of articles has been published based on the conference materials.
