Opening of the Light of Memory (Свет памяти) exhibition takes place at the Centre for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Researches of the NAS of Belarus

The opening of the joint exhibition of the Kandrat Krapiva Institute of Art History, Ethnography and Folklore of the Centre for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Researches of the NAS of Belarus with the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences and Arts (St. Petersburg, Russia) and the Monastery of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist (Jasenovac, Serbia) Light of Memory (Свет памяти) took place on July 1, 2024 on the eve of Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.

The exhibition presents print copies of paintings by Maria the Nun, a resident of the Monastery of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, made in a naive iconographic style and dedicated to the topic of the genocide of Serbs in the Jasenovac concentration camp system, paintings by St. Petersburg artists, as well as ancient Belarusian wooden sculpture from the collections of the Department of Ancient Belarusian Culture of the Centre for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Researches of the NAS of Belarus.

The exhibition will run until August 1, 2024.
