30,000 soldiers of the Red Army, partisans, and civilians who died in battle, who were tortured in Nazi captivity, are symbolized by an Obelisk to the dead prisoners of war and civilians on the 9th kilometer of the Moscow highway in Uruchcha. For many years it has been traditionally visited by scientists of the NAS of Belarus.

On July 2, 2024, on the eve of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus, a delegation of the NAS of Belarus headed by Chairman of the Presidium Vladimir Gusakov laid flowers at the monument. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairmen of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, academic secretaries of Departments of Sciences, representatives of public organizations.
