Opening of the Centre for Political Science takes place in the NAS of Belarus

On October 10, 2024, the NAS of Belarus hosted the grand opening of the Centre for Political Science of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Belarus. The main task of the Centre is the scientific, theoretical and applied research of modern socio-political processes.

As Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Uladzimir Gusakow stressed at the ceremony, the opening of the Centre is a landmark event, because political science is deep, systematic research. "We are creating the Centre in the hope that fundamental work will be carried out here to study and carry out in-depth analysis of the country's development, there will be forecasts for the future. Today, the main thing is to convincingly demonstrate in a thorough, fundamental way our achievements, features, advantages and pluses of our country, our people, our life," Uladzimir Gusakow stressed.

The decision to establish a Centre for Political Science within the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Belarus was made by the Bureau of the Presidium on December 15, 2023. According to experts, the creation of the Centre for Political Science marks an important stage in the institutionalization of domestic political science, aimed at solving key tasks facing our society and the state.

Since the first days of its existence, the Centre for Political Science has been based on a deep theoretical base in its work and has been actively engaged in the development and implementation of important projects. In particular, the Centre for Political Science is currently conducting research aimed at developing theoretical and methodological foundations for the study of democracy in our country. Special attention is paid to the disclosure of the essence and significance of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, its basic principles and features of functioning, as well as its role in the system of public administration. The scientists of the Centre for Political Science also provided a number of expert comments for the state media on various topics, primarily on the role and place of the ABPA in the updated political system.

The Centre of Political Science employs highly qualified specialists in the field of political science and sociology, as well as young scientists, including graduate students of the Department of Political Science of the Institute of Social and Humanitarian Education of the Belarusian State Economic University. Proactive young researchers are already actively involved in scientific activities, contributing to the development of political science in Belarus.
