Five young scientists become laureates of the competition 100 Young Talents of the NAS of Belarus

On December 26, 2024, the decision of the Bureau of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus approved the list of laureates of the annual competition 100 Young Talents of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for 2024.

The laureates are:

Jawgien Astrashab, senior researcher at the Centre for Structural Research and Tribomechanical Testing of Materials and Products of Mechanical Engineering of the Scientific and Technical Centre Engineering Technologies and Technological Equipment of the United Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the NAS of Belarus, PhD in Technics;

Natallia Baliuk, researcher at the Laboratory of Plant Growth and Development of the Institute of Experimental Botany named after V.F. Kuprevich of the NAS of Belarus, PhD in Biology;

Maksim Kuchvaĺski, Assistant to the Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, PhD in Biology;

Mikalaj Prakapienia, senior researcher at the Quantum Optics and Quantum Informatics Centre at the Institute of Physics named after B.I. Stepanov of the NAS of Belarus, PhD in Physico-Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor;

Vieranika Shchur, senior researcher at the Laboratory of Protein Engineering at the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the NAS of Belarus, PhD in Chemistry.

The annual competition 100 Young Talents of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was established in 2018. The total number of young scientists who are simultaneously included in the database 100 Young Talents of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus cannot exceed 100 people, and the annual number of laureates of the competition is no more than 20 people. The presence of philosophy doctors in the database – until they reach the age of 35, doctors habilitati – until the age of 45. Philosophy doctors under the age of 30 and doctors habilitati under the age of 40 working in organizations of the NAS of Belarus are allowed to participate in the competition.

The laureates of the competition are included in the database 100 Young Talents of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (with the issuance of a corresponding certificate) and in the reserve of senior staff of the NAS of Belarus, receive an annual grant to participate in an international scientific, organizational or scientific and practical event (conferences, symposiums, scientific schools, short-term internships, etc.) and an annual premium of up to 7 basic rates during the period of presence in the database.

The purpose of the 100 Young Talents of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus competition is to implement measures to attract and consolidate talented youth in scientific, technical and innovative fields; to create youth research groups and to rejuvenate the staff of scientific organizations; to ensure continuity between scientists of different generations.
