Dear colleagues! Dear friends!

On behalf of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, I congratulate the scientific community on the occasion of our professional holiday – the Day of Belarusian Science!

The contribution of scientists to the development of the country is of exceptional importance. Belarusian researchers successfully work on the most important priorities. With the help of the latest scientific achievements, Belarus ensures the solution of many large-scale problems. Close interaction of academic, university and industry science gives results that are in demand in industry, agriculture, medicine, education, and many other areas of social development.

Today, without Belarusian science and its center – the NAS of Belarus – it is impossible to imagine the successful development of society, the expanded reproduction of new knowledge, advanced technologies and innovative development models. The Academy of Sciences is a major world-class research center. Here, new forms of interaction between science and production are tested and receive practical content. Cluster forms are being widely introduced, centers and industry laboratories are being created according to scientific priorities. Thus, at present, 63 interagency world-class scientific and technological clusters, including 47 centers, are organized and operate within the NAS of Belarus; in addition, there are 31 industry laboratories. A complete innovation chain has been established: from scientific research and obtaining new knowledge, developing innovative technologies and products on this basis - to the release and sale of new in-demand products based on our own production facilities and at enterprises of the country.

The results of our scientists' work are applied in industry, agriculture, medicine, education, housing and communal services and other spheres. A clear confirmation of this is a wide range of works that have been awarded prizes by the NAS of Belarus, as well as those that have become laureates of the “Top 10” competition of fundamental and applied achievements. According to the results of 2024, these indicators cover laser physics, chemistry of new materials, pharmaceuticals, medicine, cell engineering, agricultural economics, and humanities. These are the results of the future!

The Academy of Sciences successfully completed the past year. Almost all indicative indicators of social and economic development have been met. In 2024, new laboratories, centers, and production facilities were opened. Among the significant events in the life of the country is the flight of the first Belarusian female cosmonaut, Hero of Belarus Marina Vasilevskaya, and her work on the ISS. It was the NAS of Belarus that carried out this project: it organized, selected and supported candidates for the flight, developed a scientific program together with Roscosmos and the Russian Academy of Sciences that was implemented on the ISS. We were able to hold the 3rd exhibition-forum of the IT-Akademgrad "Artificial Intelligence in Belarus", where more than 100 latest developments were presented, which characterized various aspects of such a multidimensional concept as "artificial intelligence". We organized the National Competition of creative works dedicated to the Year of Quality, and summed up its results. This year, about 700 people from all regions of the country took part in the competition, of which 243 creative works were recognized as laureates and finalists. The best were awarded diplomas and gifts.

Much has been done, the achievements are impressive. But there is still more to do!

The state and personally the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko provide serious support to the National Academy of Sciences. After all, the main task of Belarusian scientists is to promote scientific and innovative security of our country, the construction of an intellectual society, the formation of a "smart economy", and the growth of competitiveness of domestic production.

I am confident that the consolidation of scientists will ensure the achievement of the set high scientific results in the name of the prosperity of our country.
