On February 20, 2025, the International Round Table "Sociology and Modern Society: on the 35th Anniversary of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" was held. Famous Belarusian and Russian sociologists, as well as scientists from other CIS countries engaged in applied and fundamental research of modern society, took part in the round table. The event showcased the main scientific achievements of the Institute of Sociology and the results of sociological research in strategic thematic areas.
The event was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the institute's establishment. The 35-year period of the institute's operation has been marked by significant successes in fundamental and applied research into the social dynamics of Belarusian society in the context of the formation of a new statehood and sovereignty. The institute is currently the country's leading academic institution in sociological sciences. The thematic areas of fundamental research of the Institute of Sociology include a comprehensive sociological study of the socio-economic aspects of the digital transformation of Belarusian society, the definition and diagnosis of factors of the social and cultural dynamics of Belarusian society, projective modeling of the social and economic development of Belarusian regions and migration processes, preserving the historical memory of the Belarusian people about the Great Patriotic War, analysis of the dynamics of the media space and factors of trust in domestic media, as well as the development of scientific and practical recommendations for strengthening national security and Belarusian statehood in the face of external challenges and threats.
