A Belarusian-Italian round table was held in animal husbandry, milk processing technologies and dairy production.

On March 25, 2025, a Belarusian-Italian round table in animal husbandry, milk processing technologies and dairy production was held at RUE "SPC of NAS of Belarus for Food". A delegation of representatives of agricultural research centers, higher education institutions and companies from Italy arrived in Minsk to participate in the event.

As the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Italy - Belarus Angelo Ilardi noted during the Belarusian-Italian round table, Italy is interested in cooperation with Belarus in milk processing. The issue of creating a joint cheese production facility on the basis of the agricultural enterprise "Ustye" of the NAS of Belarus is being worked out. The two countries have the potential to develop cooperation in animal husbandry not only in the scientific sphere, but also in the commercial sphere. Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Petr Kazakevich noted that the dairy industry occupies a significant share in the country's exports. "Italian dairy products are widely known on the world market. Belarusian scientists are currently working on the selection of a domestic breed of red cows that will produce milk with a high protein and fat content. Such milk is very valuable for cheese production. The experience of Italian cheesemakers is very interesting and important for us. Belarusian science is open to broad cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. I am confident that today's meeting will develop mutually acceptable options for cooperation," noted Petr Kazakevich. In addition to joint cheese production, he sees prospects in research on the impact of climate change on the condition of animals and their productivity. Italian scientists have been working in this area for a long time. For Belarus, this topic is also becoming relevant.

The meeting at the NAS of Belarus was not held for the first time. In 2024, two meetings of the Belarusian-Italian round table were held. The parties are already working in some areas, in particular in genetics, and are aimed at further cooperation.

The head of the diplomatic mission of the Italian Embassy in Belarus, Tomaso Pietro Marchegiani, thanked for the hospitality. "Belarus has demonstrated excellent results. The scientific and practical center for food, which we had the opportunity to visit today, is a vivid example of this. Industrialists and scientists who came from Italy are very pleased. They were convinced that we speak the same language - the language of modern technologies and modern scientific research. Exchange between partners who are close in level of development becomes more productive. It is important to maintain such a spirit of cooperation. We can mutually enrich each other by exchanging the best achievements," noted Tomaso Pietro Marchegiani.

During the visit on March 25-26, 2025, the guests not only discussed promising areas and mechanisms for joint scientific and technical activities in animal husbandry, milk processing technologies and dairy production, but also visited organizations of the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the NAS of Belarus.
