The new composition of the Council of Young Scientists of the NAS of Belarus was elected at the reporting and election General Meeting of the Council of Young Scientists on April 3, 2025. The event, which is held in this format once every three years, was attended by representatives of the Councils of Young Scientists of the Academy's Divisions (one delegate - from 25 young researchers), academicians - secretaries, and the management of the Academy of Sciences. Just before, all divisions held reporting meetings of the Councils of Young Scientists.
The Chairman Stanislav Yuretsky reported on the results of the CYS activities for the past year. The chairmen reported on the activities of the CYS Councils of the divisions. At the reporting and election General Meeting of the CYS, a report on the results of the activities of the Council of Young Scientists for 2024 was approved. Nikolai Sukhotsky, Deputy Director of the Institute of Sociology, spoke about the results of a sociological study among young scientists of the Academy of Sciences.
At the reporting and election General Meeting of the Council of Young Scientists, elections of the Chairman of the CYS of the NAS of Belarus were held. As a result of open voting, Maxim Kuchvalsky, candidate of biological sciences, was elected Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the NAS of Belarus. Yegor Gusakov and Anton Ananchikov became deputy chairmen. Marina Lebedevich is the scientific secretary.
At the reporting and election General Meeting of the CYS, the patriotic action "I remember! I am proud!", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, found support. This year, a competition for the best scientific publication among young scientists is also planned. At the reporting and election General Meeting of the CYS of the NAS of Belarus, the best young scientists were awarded prizes from the NAS of Belarus, Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research, the trade union organization, Belarusian Union of Women, and the Council of Young Scientists of the NAS of Belarus.
Addressing young scientists, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov noted that the management of the NAS of Belarus places great hopes on the youth. "Today it is important that young scientists are first and foremost patriots, true citizens of our country. And for you, the main task is scientific activity, high results and achievements. We place great hopes on the youth. Support for young scientists has always been and is a priority in the activities of the National Academy of Sciences. We are ready to consider and support all youth ideas, initiatives and proposals. Young scientists today must boldly and actively take on the solution of the most complex scientific problems. And you will find understanding and support in everything," said Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus. The management of the Academy of Sciences invited young people to actively participate in the implementation of the most significant projects of the NAS of Belarus in priority areas of development of world science.
Currently, the Council of Young Scientists of the NAS of Belarus unites more than 2 thousand young scientists. Last year alone, more than 350 young researchers were accepted to work in the organizations of the Academy of Sciences.
