Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir Karanik met with a delegation from the Myanmar Space Agency
The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is ready to provide the necessary assistance to the Republic of Myanmar for the implementation of space projects. This was announced today by Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, at a meeting with a delegation from Myanmar Space Agency. According to him, Belarus has experience creating small spacecraft designed to probe the ionosphere from space and detect thermal anomalies, and the ground-based infrastructure for controlling and receiving information from satellites has been successfully operating for over ten years.
"Small satellites are a great opportunity to begin remote sensing of the Earth and gain detailed information about your country's territory," Vladimir Karanik emphasized. He also expressed confidence that in space exploration, the size of a country is irrelevant: even small countries, with the desire and assistance of other countries, can gain access to space.
In turn, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Myanmar Space Agency Mye Than highly praised the scientific potential of the NAS of Belarus, including in space research.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed promising areas of bilateral cooperation, including the preparation and holding of joint scientific events (conferences, workshops, etc.)
Cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Myanmar Space Agency is carried out within the framework of the Memorandum of Scientific and Technical Cooperation signed in June 2025.
