The NAS of Belarus and the Government of Murmansk Region of Russia discussed prospects for scientific and technical cooperation

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Government of Murmansk Region of Russia will soon prepare proposals to deepen scientific and technical cooperation. This was discussed at a meeting between Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, and Andrei Chibis, Governor of Murmansk Region of Russia.

The parties are primarily considering the possibilities of joint research in the Arctic region, the use of academic developments and technologies, including in microelectronics and mechanical engineering, as well as cooperation in the extraction of rare earth metals.

"We can discuss how to combine our efforts to explore the northern regions of our planet. We also have practical proposals, given the harsh climate in Murmansk region. These include the supply of specialized equipment and machinery developed and adapted for use in low temperatures. Through communication, we will find common ground in various areas," said Vladimir Karanik.

At the end of the meeting, Russian delegation was given a tour of the permanent exhibition of the NAS of Belarus, "Achievements of Domestic Science in Production."
