The Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus turns 95
Today, the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus held a ceremonial meeting to mark the 95th anniversary of the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences. Opening the event, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vitaly Zalessky read a welcoming address from Chairman of the Presidium Vladimir Karanik. He noted that the Institute of Philosophy remains faithful to the centuries-old traditions of the primordial wisdom of the Belarusian people and the philosophical knowledge and worldview that have grown from it.
"At various stages of its history, the scientific institution created and developed fundamentally new scientific fields... During the Soviet period, the works of Belarusian philosophers received widespread acclaim and well-deserved awards, such as a first-degree diploma and a gold medal from the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy. Today, thanks to these scientists and philosophers, we preserve, study, and successfully promote our spiritual and cultural heritage, thereby strengthening the humanitarian security of our republic. Marcus Tullius Cicero wrote that philosophy is the medicine of the soul, so as a surgeon, I wish you pinpoint precision in your work," the greeting read.
In turn, Anatoly Lazarevich, Director of the Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus, noted that throughout its history, the scientific institution has never stand aside from key issues of social development. This reveals the unique human-creating significance of philosophical knowledge.
The event concluded on a solemn note: the institute's scientists were presented with Certificates of Honor and Letters of Appreciation. Afterward, participants and guests viewed an art exhibition of the institute's scientists' works.
The International Scientific Conference "Philosophical Knowledge in the Digital Age" also opened today. More details on the program and the philosophers' contributions can be found on the Institute of Philosophy's website.
