On November 26, 2024, the 4th meeting of the Scientific Council on Agrarian Problems of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS) was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in a videoconference format. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, Corresponding Member P. P. Kazakevich, who serves as Co-Chair of this Council.
Currently, the Scientific Council on Agrarian Problems of the IAAS comprises 29 members from six countries, including 13 from Belarus, 10 from the Russian Federation, 2 from Kyrgyzstan, 1 from Azerbaijan, 1 from Georgia, and 2 from Kazakhstan.
Scientists from three countries—Belarus, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan—participated in the meeting. The agenda focused on reports on Animal Husbandry as a Key Sector of Agriculture in the Member States of the Scientific Council.

1. “Protein Nutrition of Highly Productive Animals: Problems and Prospects” Speaker: Alexander Ivanovich Portnoy – General Director of the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Animal Husbandry,” Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor.
2. “Insect Protein: Experience in Feeding Highly Productive Cows” Speaker: Evgeny Alexandrovich Tretyakov – Leading Researcher at the A. S. Emelyanov North-West Research Institute of Dairy and Pasture Farming, Branch of the Vologda Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences.
3. “Alternative Methods of Therapy and Prevention of Infectious Animal Diseases under the Circulation of Antibiotic-Resistant Microbial Strains” Speaker: Dmitry Sergeevich Borisovets – Director of the Republican Research Subsidiary Unitary Enterprise “S. N. Vyshelesky Institute of Experimental Veterinary Science,” Candidate of Veterinary Sciences, Associate Professor.
4. “Digitalization as the Basis for Efficient Future Animal Husbandry: The Case of the Belarusian System of Animal and Animal Product Identification and Traceability” Speaker: Gennady Evgenievich Volnisty – Technical Director of the Scientific and Engineering Republican Unitary Enterprise “Intersectoral Scientific and Practical Center for Identification Systems and Electronic Business Operations.”
