Vladimir Karanik met with the staff of the Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry

Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, held a working meeting with the management and staff of the Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry of the Academy of Sciences. The key topic of the meeting was the Chernobyl disaster and the measures taken by the state to address the consequences of the accident and promote the social and economic development of the affected regions.

"Recognizing the scale of the tragedy, the country's management took unprecedented measures to minimize the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and deployed all available and necessary resources to reduce the health risks associated with radiation exposure," the head of the NAS stated. He also added that the participation of NAS scientists was required to assess the situation and make rapid management decisions. Incidentally, 183 specialists from the Academy of Sciences have been recognized as liquidators of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident.

"It's important to understand that over the past 40 years, our approach to the affected regions has changed dramatically. At a certain point, we shifted from a strategy focused solely on protecting the population and rehabilitating land to a more comprehensive one—the revival and dynamic development of the affected regions. And this work, by decision of the Government and the Head of State personally, will continue in the future," said the head of the Academy of Sciences.

After meeting with the team, Vladimir Karanik learned about the achievements and results of the Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry and toured the laboratories where cutting-edge research in food safety and innovative product development is conducted. Particular attention was paid to projects aimed at improving the quality and competitiveness of Belarusian products in international markets.
