Vladimir Karanik met with students of Yanka Kupala Grodno State University

Today, at Yanka Kupala Grodno State University, Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, met with students, faculty, and members of Grodno City Council of Employers. The meeting focused on Belarus's space activities, their development prospects, and their impact on the country's economy.

In his welcoming remarks, Vladimir Karanik emphasized that the relevance of research in the peaceful exploration of space will only increase. This requires qualified specialists from a wide range of fields. This includes the development of new materials for protecting electronics and crews, instrumentation, rocketry, and biotechnology research in space.

He also noted that all space research activities in Belarus are conducted within the framework of the national space program. The fourth program, launched in 2026, is a logical continuation of the previous three. Work is also being conducted within the framework of the Union State.

"Work is progressing on several fronts. There's an intergovernmental agreement to create a unique ultra-high-resolution Earth remote sensing device (with a resolution of 35 cm), and its launch is planned for 2028. During my visit to Moscow for Space Week, it was discussed that all work is on schedule," said Vladimir Karanik.

Before the meeting, participants were able to view an exhibition at the NAS of Belarus dedicated to the spaceflight of the first Belarusian cosmonaut, Hero of Belarus Marina Vasilevskaya, to Russian segment of the International Space Station and the creation of the spacecraft. The exhibition showcased the equipment worn by Belarusian cosmonauts Marina Vasilevskaya and Anastasia Lenkova, including their spacesuits, cradleboards, fuel tanks, the Forel spacesuit, survival kit components, and other items.
