The 5th Belarusian Biochemical Congress "Modern Problems of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology" opened in Grodno
The conference brings together approximately 200 specialists and experts in biochemistry, who discuss fundamental research and current developments, as well as their practical application in medicine and various sectors of the economy.
The congress program is comprehensive and includes plenary and breakout sessions, where scientists and researchers will examine the biochemical and molecular foundations of various diseases, as well as modern approaches to their laboratory diagnostics.
Particular attention will be paid to how advanced molecular biology technologies can be successfully integrated into pharmacology, oncology, and other key sectors of the real economy.
Academician-Secretary of the Department of Medical Sciences of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vasily Bogdan read a welcome address from Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the NAS Presidium.
"Molecular biology, biochemistry, and the chemistry of natural compounds form the foundation of modern natural science. Research and development in this area are considered priority areas of scientific and technical activity in the Republic of Belarus," the statement reads.
The head of the Academy of Sciences also noted that discoveries in molecular biology open up exciting prospects. They underlie cutting-edge fields such as genetic engineering and modern biotechnology, which today shape the global economy. Furthermore, this knowledge enables for significant improvements in human health by introducing personalized treatment approaches, thereby maintaining a high quality of life and maintaining patients' ability to work.
"To achieve new significant results in these areas, ongoing interaction between scientists, the exchange of ideas, and learning the best global practices already successfully applied in various countries are crucial. The 5th Belarusian Biochemical Congress will provide precisely this opportunity for a fruitful, multifaceted, and interdisciplinary dialogue," emphasized Vladimir Karanik.
The V Belarusian Biochemical Congress is being held on May 21-22 in Grodno at the Republican Research Unitary Enterprise “Institute of Biochemistry of Biologically Active Compounds of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus”.
