Vladimir Karanik: The memory of great events, the heroism of the people, their feats – this is the foundation on which the future of any state is built

This was stated by Vladimir Karanik, head of the NAS of Belarus, during a meeting with Ostrovets youth, which was held as part of the Single Information Day "Memory for the Future" dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War.

"Why are there attempts now to rewrite history, to impose fake interpretations of the events of the Great Patriotic War? To destroy the foundation of our national identity, the foundation of our state. And our task is to transfer the truth about those events, about the Great Patriotic War, to our younger generation, so that they can pass it on to future generations," said Vladimir Karanik.

"It was easier for us. We interacted with veterans more often and grew up watching war films. Now there are practically no veterans left, and their health prevents them from participating in such meetings. We, middle-aged and older people, must take up this relay race and pass it on to future generations, and they to their children and grandchildren," the head of the Academy of Sciences noted.
