The grand opening of the International Wildlife Research Center took place in the National Park “Belovezhskaya Pushcha”
The new centre aims to become an important research hub for scientists working on biodiversity conservation.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus; Dmitry Krutoy, Head of the Presidential Administration; Yuri Nazarov, Head of the Presidential Property Management Department; Pyotr Parkhomchik, Governor of Brest Region; as well as representatives of the scientific community and distinguished guests.
Speaking at the opening, Vladimir Karanik emphasized the strategic importance of the facility and expressed confidence that the center will become an international platform for exchanging experience and consolidating the efforts of scientists from different countries.
"I hope that through our joint efforts, we will make this place a magnet for researchers. It's important that as many young scientists as possible work here. I'm confident that it's within these walls that many will take their first steps in science and make discoveries that will make our country proud," said the head of the National Academy of Sciences.
The center is designed as a modern, multifunctional complex with 36 workstations. The facility's infrastructure includes:
Specialized laboratories: for environmental monitoring, zoology, and botany;
Analytical unit: high-tech equipment, including modern microscopes and a soil analysis lab;
Storage facilities: specialized spaces for organizing and storing flora and fauna samples.
"The center's equipment allows for comprehensive scientific research at the highest level, opening up new prospects for studying the unique ecosystem of Belovezhskaya Pushcha," said Vladimir Karanik.
