From August 25 to 27, 2026, a delegation from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, along with university researchers, are on a working visit to Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province. The visit marks an important milestone in the development of bilateral scientific and technical dialogue aimed at deepening partnerships and implementing joint projects.
On August 25, the delegation had a number of key meetings. Talks were held with Wu Yantao, Party Secretary of Qilu University of Technology, and Shu Minlei, Vice President of the Shandong Provincial Academy of Sciences. The discussions focused on the implementation of joint projects, including those submitted to international scientific and technical cooperation competitions between the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, and the operation of the joint laboratory "Intelligent Sensing in Extreme Conditions," established as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. The parties discussed the participation of Belarusian scientists in upcoming events organized by the Shandong Provincial Academy of Sciences, including a conference for young scientists in October and the 24th Specialist Exchange Conference scheduled for November in Shanghai. Following the meeting, agreements were reached to intensify and deepen cooperation in promising areas of science and technology.
On August 26, high-level talks were held with Shandong Provincial Vice Governor Yang Jinbo, Jinan City Vice Mayor Zheng Guangfeng, and Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Department Director Song Haisheng. The parties commended the current level of cooperation and discussed potential support for projects reviewed as part of the Belarusian-Chinese scientific and technical projects competition.
A key event of the day was the delegation's participation in the IV Conference on Innovative Development of Human Resources. Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Alexei Trukhanov addressed the conference participants with a welcoming speech. Sergei Shcherbakov participated in the opening ceremony of the China-Belarus Tribo-Fatigue Center.
The key event of the day was the 9th International Symposium on Tribo-Fatigue and the Symposium on Laser Advanced Manufacturing and Intelligent Sensors, where delegation members discussed promising joint projects with their Chinese, Russian, Uzbek, and Armenian colleagues.
On August 27, the visit continued with a meeting with Su Xuefeng, Deputy Director of the Shandong Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Peng Wenbo, Deputy Director of the Jinan City Science and Technology Bureau, and vice-rectors of leading universities in the region (China University of Petroleum, Qingdao Agricultural University, and Shandong University of Science and Technology).
The Chinese partners expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation. During the cooperation conference, the Chinese side provided detailed information on preparations for the 24th Specialist Exchange Conference, which will be held in November 2026 in Shanghai. Representatives from Shandong universities presented their educational and research programs and invited their Belarusian colleagues to cooperate.
This visit marked an important milestone in scientific and technical cooperation between Belarus and China, in accordance with previously reached agreements.
