Sergey Shcherbakov, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, held a working meeting with a delegation from Sinomachbel led by Director Liu Jiadan
The focus is on discussing promising areas and mechanisms for Belarusian-Chinese cooperation, including the establishment of a joint laboratory under the Belt and Road Initiative.
It is expected that two academic organizations from the Belarusian side will participate in establishing the new structure: the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering and the United Institute of Informatics Problems.
The laboratory plans to collaborate with Chinese scientists on advanced and high-demand developments — ranging from the implementation of artificial intelligence and robotics to the creation of unmanned systems and intelligent control of production processes.
As Sergey Shcherbakov emphasized, the new laboratory will serve as a platform for technology transfer and enable Belarusian-Chinese cooperation in intelligent mechanical engineering to reach the brand new level.
"This is an important step within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative that will pool the efforts to create an intellectual foundation for next-generation industry," he said.
