A meeting of the bilateral Russian-Belarusian working group on Antarctic development took place at Pripyatsky National Park
Alexei Trukhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, took part in the event on behalf of the Academy.
During the meeting, participants reviewed plans for scientific and logistical cooperation for 2026–2027, including those related to the 19th Belarusian Antarctic Expedition and the 73rd Russian Antarctic Expedition.
"Cooperation with colleagues from the Russian Federation in this polar region is strategic in nature, ranging from the transport of personnel and cargo for Belarusian Antarctic Expedition (BAE) to the conduct of joint scientific research," said Alexey Trukhanov. "A partial rotation of personnel for both the BAE and the Russian Antarctic Expedition (RAE) is planned for the current season. We have agreed to jointly monitor the preparations for and execution of the expeditions and to make prompt adjustments as necessary."
The 19th Belarusian Antarctic Expedition, involving 13 polar explorers, will launch this November. The expedition is scheduled to conclude in April 2027.
