On May 16, 2016 a Saudi Arabia delegation visited the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus within the visit to the Republic of Belarus. Members of the delegation were made familiar with the NASB permanent exhibition "Accomplishments of Belarusian scientists to the production sector" and have negotiated with top officials of the NAS of Belarus. The Head of the delegation, Undersecretary for Economic and Cultural Affairs of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Youssuf bin Tarrad Al Sa'doun noted that Belarusian and Saudi Arabian scientists have already produced results in the course of joint work but they are intent on upping the scale of the efforts.

The delegation will also visit a number of NASB institutions such as the Institute of Chemistry of New Materials, the B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics, and the A.V. Luikov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute.

According to the results of the visit to Belarus is planned to sign an agreement on cooperation in science and technologies between the governments of Belarus and Saudi Arabia, the main operators on which from Belarusian side are the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and State Science and Technology Committee, and a final protocol after the second session of the Belarusian-Saudi Arabian joint committee.
