The press conference "Year of Science – for Economy. Development and implementation of innovative materials and technologies by the NASB scientists" was held at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus. The press conference was attended by: Alexander F. Ilyushchenko, Director General of the State Scientific and Production Association of Powder Metallurgy, Director of the State Scientific Institution "Institute of Powder Metallurgy of the NAS of Belarus", Corresponding Member of the NAS of Belarus; Vitaly G. Zalessky, Director of the State Scientific Institution "Physical-Engineering Institute of the NAS of Belarus", Doctor of Physics and Mathematics; Stepan S. Pesetsky, Head of a Department of the V.A.Biely Metal-Polymer Research Institute of the NAS of Belarus (Gomel), Corresponding Member of the NAS of Belarus.

Vitaly Zalessky said that the technology of electron-beam 3D-printing from wire was being mastering in Belarus. This technology makes is possible to manufacture parts up to 1 m in size. He also said about high-voltage oxidation technology, which allows to harden coatings of mobile phones or radio electronic devices, and about the use of magnetic pulse technology.

Alexander Ilyushchenko also said about development of 3D-printing technologies. According to him, the technologies of metallurgical 3D-printing have been mastered, and they allow to obtain high-quality products from metals and alloys without the use of traditional methods. He also said about the development of technology for the production of materials for optical mirrors used in space equipment. Belarusian scientists have also mastered the technology of production of carbon-carbon composite materials.
