The research laboratory of functional nutrition was opened at the Scientific and Practical Center of the NAS of Belarus on Food on 4 July 2019.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Turchin, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Valentin Tataritsky, Chairman of the State Committee for Standardization.
The new laboratory will develop personalized nutrition to create formulations and innovative technologies of functional foods. They will also conduct research on baby food, nutrition of patients with hereditary and alimentary-dependent diseases, clinical studies to assess the effectiveness of new types of enrichment additives, etc. According to Zenon Lovkis, Director General of the NASB Scientific and Practical Center on Food, the creation of the laboratory of functional nutrition is an important step for the development of the industry. “Proper and balanced nutrition in accordance with individual indicators of the body will help to increase the living standard of the population and ensure longevity,” he said.
