Scientists of Belarus take part in the IV Forum of CIS Scientists in Bishkek

The delegation of the scientists from Belarus takes part in the IV Forum of Scientists of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which takes place on June 16-17, 2022 in Bishkek (Republic of Kyrgyzstan). The delegation includes representatives of the scientific organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.

As the head of the delegation, Chairman of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research, Academician Sergei Gaponenko, stressed today in his speech at the opening of the Forum, «At present, the scope and frequency of the new challenges have reached an unprecedented scale. Science, which is at the forefront of solving the most complex problems of the mankind, is the first to take on global challenges. Therefore, it is important for scientists to try, including by joint efforts, to prevent their occurrence and minimize possible negative effects».

The academician noted that the long-term period of the close relations between scientific organizations of the CIS countries created a good basis for such interaction. The list of the thematic areas of the Forum also testifies to the commonality of interests of scientists from the CIS countries. These are nanotechnologies and new materials, chemical technologies, energy, biotechnology and genetics, molecular biology, ecology and information and communication technologies, modern medicine and the production of medicines, and others.

The head of the Belarusian delegation noted that such a form of interaction between scientists as holding the Forums of CIS Scientists is already becoming traditional, and researchers can now jointly consider a wide range of the issues of the expanding cooperation in the scientific and innovative fields for the benefit of the peoples of the Commonwealth states on a systematic basis.

The IV Forum of Scientists of the CIS Member States is held in accordance with the Plan of the priority actions in the field of the humanitarian cooperation of the CIS member states for 2021–2022, adopted at the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government on November 6, 2020. The main goals of the Forum are: to intensify and develop the scientific and the technical cooperation between the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, to promote the formation and expansion of the scientific space of the CIS, to give impetus to initiate the joint scientific research and projects, to formulate proposals for the development of investment and innovative scientific developments implemented in the interests of Commonwealth countries.

The previous, III Forum of Scientists of the CIS Member States was held on November 25-26, 2021 in Minsk at the sites of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the CIS Executive Committee.
