The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has launched a thematic section on "Cooperation in the Social and Humanitarian Spheres," which is being held as part of the III Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan

Participants in the discussion included representatives from academia, university research, healthcare, sports, tourism, and government agencies of the two countries.

Opening the discussion, Vladimir Karanik, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, recalled that the current partnership is the result of systematic work that began in 2018, when a basic agreement was signed between the Academies of Sciences of Belarus and Uzbekistan.

It was then that the foundation was laid for a close scientific dialogue, which over the past five years has been reinforced by a number of interdepartmental agreements.

"These documents are not just a formality, but a real tool for launching new breakthrough projects, including in pharmaceuticals and healthcare, biotechnology, new materials, green energy, and digitalization," Vladimir Karanik emphasized.

The head of the Academy of Sciences placed particular emphasis on the similarities in their approaches to organizing scientific activity. Specifically, the academies of sciences of both countries operate according to a similar program-targeted principle.

"The potential for our cooperation is far from exhausted. I am confident that today's discussion will identify new growth areas and reach new horizons for interaction," Vladimir Karanik concluded.
