Alexander Alexandrovich Lukashanets (b. 23.11.1954, v. Zhuravtsy, Volozhin district, Minsk region), Linguist. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in the specialty "Belarusian language" (2017), corresponding member (2009), Doctor of Philological Sciences (2001), Professor (2003).
Works on Belarusian and Slavic word formation, problems of Belarusian-Russian bilingualism and sociolinguistics, problems of modern development and functioning of the Belarusian language and Belarusian spelling. Created a new scientific direction in the Belarusian linguistics - developed a theoretical framework and implemented a practical description of the system of Belarusian word formation from the standpoint of grammatical parameters of motivated and motivating words. He is the co-author of the first in the Belarusian lexicography "Dictionary of the Belarusian language." He revealed the patterns of innovative changes in the vocabulary and word formation of the Belarusian language at the end of the XX - beginning of the XXI centuries. and explored, on a broad Slavic background, the peculiarities of the development of the vocabulary of the modern Belarusian language from the standpoint of trends towards internationalization and nationalization. He explored the problems of the Belarusian-Russian bilingualism and language interaction, revealed the legal, linguistic, sociolinguistic, political, psycholinguistic and pragmatic aspects of the functioning of the Belarusian language in the context of state bilingualism. One of the main developers of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On the rules of Belarusian spelling and punctuation" (2008), author and co-author of a number of practical manuals and reference books on Belarusian spelling, scientific editor of a number of modern spelling dictionaries of the Belarusian language, and bilingual Belarusian-Russian and Russian-Belarusian dictionaries prepared in accordance with the law.
Author of more than 300 scientific papers, including 12 monographs, 4 dictionaries.
Winner of the awards of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 2001 and 2011.
