Vitaly Antonovich Tolkachev (b. 28.06.1934, v. Skirmontovo, Dzerzhinsk district, Minsk region), physicist. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2000; corresponding member since 1984), Doctor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences (1980), Professor (1990).
Works in the field of molecular spectroscopy and quantum electronics. He developed a theory of the statistical formation of the observed photophysical characteristics of free complex molecules and proposed methods for their experimental study. He created lasers on electronic transitions of free complex molecules, discovered, theoretically and experimentally studied the polarization of stimulated emission and polarized fluorescence of orientationally anisotropic vapors of complex molecules. Established the dynamic mechanism of quantum rotational echo in polyatomic molecules.
Author of the monograph, more than 130 scientific articles, 13 inventions.
Lenin Prize in 1980 for the creation and development of a new scientific field - spectroscopy of free complex molecules. State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in 1998 for a series of works "Dynamics of the rotational motion of electronically excited polyatomic molecules in the gas phase".
Awarded with medals.
