Alexander Nikolaevich Bulyko (b. 18.03.1935, v. Selishche, Novogrudok district, Grodno region), philologist. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1994), Doctor of Philological Sciences (1981), Professor (1992).
Explores the history of the Belarusian literary language. He worked out the issues of historical lexicology of the Belarusian language, Old Belarusian phonetics, morphology and spelling, features of the language of F. Skaryna’s publications. Comprehensively researched lexical borrowings of the Belarusian language, studied their semantics, etymology, derivational capacity, ways of phonetic, morphological and semantic adaptation.
Author of more than 300 scientific papers, incl. 10 monographs, author and co-author of 17 dictionaries, incl. "Historical Dictionary of the Belarusian language" (Issue 1-28, 1982-2008).
State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in 1998.
