Valeriy Mitrofanovich Lemesh (b. 11.12.1938, Rechitsa, Gomel region), a scientist in the field of veterinary medicine. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2003), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Agrarian Sciences of the Republic of Belarus (1994-2002), Doctor of Veterinary Sciences (1987), Professor (1995).
Scientific studies are devoted to the study of oncopathology of animals. He developed methods of epizootological analysis, which allowed to determine the situation and ways of spreading cattle leukemia, a scientifically based system of recreational measures. The author of the idea of using immunogenetic methods in the prevention of leukemia in cattle breeding. Identified genetic markers for resistance and predisposition of animals to leukemia. Under his leadership, recommendations are being developed to improve the quality of livestock products when using biologically active substances and pathological conditions of animals. Conducted research on the development of criteria for veterinary and sanitary evaluation of meat and milk of animals contained in the zone of radioactive contamination, as well as food safety when using non-traditional feed, biologically active substances and new drugs in the diet of animals, with infectious diseases, metabolic disorders and other pathologies of animals.
Author of more than 250 scientific papers, incl. 4 monographs, 2 inventor certificates.
Awarded with the Order of Honor (2012), a medal.
