Zenon Valentinovich Lovkis (b. 05.10.1946, v. Mozheiki, Postavy district, Vitebsk region) - mechanical engineer. Corresponding member (2009), foreign member of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (2010–2014), Russian Academy of Sciences (2014), Latvian Academy of Sciences (2017), Doctor of Engineering Sciences (1990), Professor (1991). Honorary Professor of Mogilev State University of Food (2017). Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus (2013).
Scientific works in the field of the theory of hydraulics and hydraulic drive, engineering and technology of the processes of cultivation, harvesting and processing of vegetable raw materials. Developed machines and mechanisms with hydraulically active working bodies: potato harvesters and diggers, soil processing machines. He proposed a number of working bodies and devices for the intensification of loosening of media, local fertilization, separators. With his participation, original technologies for complex processing of vegetable raw materials were developed, new types of machinery and equipment were created: a range of washing machines, cutting machines, molding machines, a pump installation for high-temperature environments. The enterprises of the republic introduced technologies for producing modified starches, alcohol, food and beverages of functional purpose, natural wines, new products from alcoholic beverages, potato products, fruits and vegetables. He initiated and organized a number of projects and tasks aimed at full and functional nutrition for children, pregnant women, the elderly, and disease prevention. Under his leadership, a system of achieving the quality of foodstuffs in the Republic of Belarus was created, consisting of: the Republican Control and Testing Complex for Food Quality and Safety, the National Technical Committee "Food Raw Materials and Products of its Processing" (TC BY16), product certification body and Central Tasting commissions.
Author of more than 550 scientific papers, including 23 books and textbooks, 112 patents.
Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2015) for the cycle of works “Modified starches for the national economy”.
