Vladimir Vsevolodovich Soltanov (b. 15.02.1936, Orsha, Vitebsk region), a scientist in the field of physiology of visceral systems. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1996), Doctor of Biological Sciences (1977), Professor (1990).
The main line of research is the analysis of the functional organization of afferent systems of internal organs, the mechanisms of viscero-visceral reflex reactions, the mechanisms of self-regulation of vegetative functions. He studied the functional properties of the sensory fibers of the organs of the abdominal and pelvic cavities, electrophysiologically combined with the degeneration method provides evidence of the existence of autonomic afferent neurons of peripheral origin. A special group of its own autonomic afferent neurons, mediating, at the level of prevertebral sympathetic ganglia, the transmission of interoceptive influences on adrenal function has been discovered and studied in detail. The regularities of changes in the reflex reactions underlying a number of disorders associated with visceral pain, ulcerogenesis, vagotomy, ischemia of the small intestine are established. The leading role of endogenous nitrogen monoxide, bacterial lipopolysaccharide, adenosine in modulating the activity of afferent, efferent and central entities is revealed.
Author of 270 scientific papers, incl. 3 monographs.
Awarded with medals.
