Vladimir Nikolaevich Zhabinsky (b. 05.07.1960, v. Shutovichi, Smorgon district, Grodno region), an organic chemist. Corresponding Member (2017), Doctor of Chemical Sciences (2000), Associate Professor (2011).
Research in the field of chemical synthesis and use of steroids, in particular, plant hormones - brassinosteroids. A number of papers are devoted to the development of methods for constructing structural fragments of polyfunctionalized steroids. Carried out the synthesis of the most important brassinosteroids corresponding to isotopic and fluorescently labeled derivatives. Participated in the development of the concept of regulation of the viability and productivity of plants with the help of steroid hormones, the creation and implementation of fundamentally new agricultural products and environmentally friendly technologies on this basis.
Author of more than 350 scientific papers, including 7 monographs.
State Prize of the Republic of Belarus (1996) for the series of works "Synthesis, research and application of brassinosteroids - a new class of plant hormones".
