Nikolay Afanasyevich Dorozhkin (14.12.1905, v. Gorokhovka, Bryansk region, Russia - 27.04.1993), mycologist and phytopathologist. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1962; corresponding member since 1950), Academician of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Belarus (1959-1961), Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1934), Professor (1933). Honored Scientist of the BSSR (1965). Member of the partisan movement in Belarus during the Great Patriotic War.
Scientific works are devoted to the phytopathology of agricultural plants. He studied the biology of the spread of pathogens of cereals and legumes, potatoes, tomatoes and other vegetable crops. Defined the development of late blight and potato cancer, developed agrotechnical methods to combat the pathogens of potato cancer, a laboratory-field method for assessing the resistance of potato varieties to the late blight, technology to combat diseases and pests of potatoes. Developed an original method for isolating mono-spore clans of potato pathogens pathogen.
Author of more than 600 scientific papers, incl. 23 monographs.
State Prize of the USSR in 1974 for the breeding, reproduction and introduction into production of highly productive potato varieties.
Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1951, 1966), "Badge of Honor" (1949), the October Revolution (1971), medals.
