In memory of the scientist :: DUBAKH Alexander Davydovich

Alexander Davydovich Dubakh (09.07.1883, v. Botovo, Moscow region - 1942), a scientist in the field of land reclamation and hydrology. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1928), Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1926), Professor (1921).

— Graduated from Moscow Agricultural Institute (1908).
— In 1920-1927 - Head of the Department of the Belarusian Agricultural Academy.
— In 1927-1930 - Head of the Department of the Belarusian Research Institute of Agriculture and Forestry named after V.I. Lenin.
— In 1925-1930 - Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council under the People's Commissariat of the BSSR.
— In 1930 - arrested, deprived of the title of academician. Rehabilitated in 1932. Re-arrested in 1937, but the case against his production was discontinued. Restored the rank of academician in 1978.
— In 1927-1930 and 1933-1942 - Head of the Department of the Leningrad Forestry Academy.

Developed issues of forest hydrology of wetlands, the effect of forest on river flow. Conducted an analysis of the patterns of formation of the water regime of the swamps. Thanks to his work, the hydrology of the marshes has become an independent branch of science.

Author of more than 70 scientific papers, incl. 14 monographs.

Awarded with the medal "For the Defense of Leningrad".
