In memory of the scientist :: GORBUNOV Timofey Sazonovich

Timofey Sazonovich Gorbunov (06.08.1904, v. Saniki, Beshenkovichi district, Vitebsk region – 08.10.1969), party and public figure, historian. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1959), Professor (1963).

— Graduated from the Communist University of Belarus (1931), Belgian University (1936), Academy of Social Sciences under the Central Committee of the CPSU (b) (1948).
— Since 1933 - Correspondent of the newspaper "Pravda", since 1937 - Editor-in-Chief of the State Publishing House of the BSSR, since 1939 - Editor of the newspaper "Zvyazda".
— In 1941-1947 and in 1950-1960 - Secretary of the CPB Central Committee.
— In 1942-1945 - Editor of the magazine "Slavyane", in 1949 - 1950. Deputy Chairman of the Board of the All-Union Society for the Spread of Political and Scientific Knowledge; Editor of the Science and Life".
— In 1960-1967 - Academician-Secretary of the Department of Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR.
— Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1946-1962, the Supreme Council of the BSSR in 1947-1967, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the BSSR in 1955-1963.

Works on the history of the formation of the BSSR, culture, the revolutionary and national liberation struggle of the Belarusian people, socialist construction in Belarus. He was one of the editors of the collection "The Great October Socialist Revolution in Belarus (documents and materials)" (vol. 1-2, 1957) and "History of the Belarusian SSR" (vol. 1-2, 1961).

Author of over 20 scientific papers, incl. 7 monographs and brochures.

Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1943), the Red Banner (1944), the Red Banner of Labor (1954), medals.
