Viktor Alexandrovich Ipatyev (30.03.1942, Omsk, Russia – 09.06.2009), a scientist in the field of forest science, soil science and forest radioecology. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1996; corresponding member since 1994), foreign member of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (1998), Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1986), Professor (1997). Independent expert of UN on forests from Eastern European countries (1995).
Research to improve the productivity of forests in over-wetted lands, optimizing the process of mineral nutrition of woody plants. Created a direction to regulate and block the processes of radionuclide entry into forest phytocenoses without reducing the productivity of woody plants and soil fertility under conditions of global radioactive contamination of territories.
Author of 290 scientific papers, incl. 51 monographs, 22 inventions.
