Gennady Dmitrievich Karpenko (17.09.1949, Minsk – 06.04.1999), a scientist in the field of technology of new materials and coatings. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1994), Doctor of Engineering Sciences (1990). Honored Scientist of the BSSR (1991).
He developed technologies of nuclear materials based on uranium and chromium dioxides, which are introduced in a special technique. Under his leadership, developed new technological processes for obtaining vacuum coatings with a given set of physico-mechanical properties, and also created a number of industrial plants for their production.
Author of more than 100 scientific papers, incl. 1 monograph and 40 inventions.
State Prize of the BSSR in 1986 for the development and creation of new technological processes and equipment for applying thin-film coatings by the method of ion-beam processing and their widespread introduction into the national economy.
