Leonid Ivanovich Kolykhan (26.07.1931, v. Sloboda, Mozyr district, Gomel region – 27.07.2003), scientist in the field of nuclear energy. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1984), Doctor of Engineering Sciences (1977), Professor (1979).
Works in the field of nuclear energy. Under his leadership and with direct participation, an extensive program of research on heat transfer in single-phase and two-phase flows was performed with subcritical and supercritical parameters, as well as with phase transformations of chemically reacting nitrogen tetroxide, a new type of coolant and working fluid of nuclear power plants. He revealed a number of features of heat and mass transfer in a dissociating coolant. He studied heat transfer and hydrodynamics in models and prototypes of heat exchange equipment and elements of the reactor core of nuclear power plants. Developed a scientific and technical basis for creating passive safety systems for new generation nuclear power plants with WWER reactors..
Author of more than 100 scientific papers, incl. 3 monographs, 45 inventions.
Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1981), medal.
