Vladilen Aleksandrovich Kuznetsov (20.02.1931, Pskov, Russia – 31.01.2008), a scientist in the field of geological sciences. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1989), Doctor of Geologo-Mineralogical Sciences (1973).
Scientific works in the field of geology and geochemistry of Cenozoic. He performed research related to the problems of alluvial lithogenesis, geochemical correlation, mineral exploration, landscape geochemistry. He revealed the regularities of the composition and conditions of formation of modern and ancient river sediments of the crust of Belarus and their metal content. He developed a method of searching for primary ores by buried alluvial halos of dispersion. He reconstructed the conditions of rock formation in the Neogene and the anthropogen, substantiated the concepts of substance differentiation during sedimentary lithogenesis and geochemical correlation. He revealed the scientific and practical aspects of the study of river valleys. The research results and scientific recommendations contributed to the search and prediction of mineral resources, geological surveys, solving problems of agriculture, health care, and environmental protection of Belarus. Work on the assessment of the relationship of landscape-geochemical conditions and levels of cancer incidence was the basis for the development of medical geochemistry in Belarus. Investigated the geochemical consequences of the Chernobyl disaster, the nature of the primary radioactive contamination of the territory of Belarus, the secondary processes of migration and accumulation of radioisotopes, the dynamics of their forms of location.
Author of more than 400 scientific papers, incl. 22 monographs.
Awarded with the Order of Friendship of Peoples (1986), medals.
