Petr Ivanovich Nikonchik (b. 20.04.1932, v. Sloboda, Puhovichi district, Minsk region), farming scientist. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2003), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Agrarian Sciences of the Republic of Belarus (1992-2002). Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1987).

Scientific work in the field of agriculture. Developed and implemented in practice economically and environmentally sound land use systems for specialized farming based on the principles of biologization, adaptive intensification and resource and energy saving, improvement and rational combination of soil-ecological crop rotations, the structure of sown areas with systems of fertilizers and plant protection. He substantiated and introduced into production adaptive contour-ecological crop rotations for farms of different specialization on the principles of landscape land use. Experimentally researched the biological nutrient cycle, the balance of organic matter and nutrients in various types of crop rotations and developed on their basis the theoretical basis for improving the structure of sown areas, the system of crop rotations, fertilizers in them, reproduction of soil fertility. Developed land use systems and specialized crop rotations to ensure high productivity of arable land (70-85 centners per hectare unit), enhanced reproduction of soil fertility, improvement of plant phytosanitary status, environmental protection.
