Nikolay Evseevich Savchenko (07.11.1922, v. Krasny Dvorets, Chechersk district, Gomel region – 12.06.2001), urologist surgeon, statesman of the Republic of Belarus. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1972; Corresponding Member since 1969), Doctor of Medical Sciences (1965), Professor (1966). Member of the Great Patriotic War.
Major works on the urogenital diseases, renal hypertension, organ and tissue transplantation, automated health management systems.
His name is given to the 4th city clinical hospital in Minsk.
Author of more than 300 scientific papers, incl. 11 monographs and 9 inventions.
State Prize of the USSR in 1982 for the development and introduction into clinical practice of modern diagnostic methods and original reconstructive organ-sparing operations for the treatment of patients with congenital anomalies of the kidneys and urinary tract. State Prize of the BSSR in 1988 for the series of works "Development and implementation in practice of methods for the treatment of malignant tumors using hyperthermia and hyperglycemia".
Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1966, 1971, 1976), World War of the I and II degree (1945, 1985), Red Star (1944, 1945), medals.
