Viktor Ivanovich Semenkov (b. 26.12.1925, v. Gimbatovka, Mstislav district, Mogilev region), jurist. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1980), Doctor of Juridical Sciences (1977), Professor (1979). Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus (1996). Member of the Great Patriotic War.
Work on the history of labor law and legislation on labor protection, supervision and monitoring compliance with labor legislation. A number of works are devoted to issues of state building, history of the state and law of Belarus. His works contributed to the improvement of the effectiveness of legal regulations in the field of labor and collective-labor relations. He headed the group of authors on the preparation and publication of four Commentary on the Labor Code of the Republic of Belarus (2000, 2003, 2005, 2008), edited and co-authored five textbooks on Labor Law, participated in the preparation and publication of seven Handbooks on labor legislation for the population. Took part in drafting the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus (1994), other regulatory legal acts.
Author of more than 300 scientific papers, incl. 13 monographs, 5 textbooks.
Awarded with the Order of the Labor Red Banner (1979), World War of the II degree (1985), "Badge of Honor" (1971), the medal "For Courage" (1945), other medals.
