Evgeny Antonovich Sidorovich (10.03.1928 – 25.01.2017) born in vil. Berezino, Minsk region, a scientist in the field of ecological physiology of plants, botany, environmental protection. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1989), Doctor of Biological Sciences (1985), Professor (1992). Honored Scientist of the BSSR (1978).
Scientific research in the field of physiology, plant ecology and environmental protection, plant introductions. He developed the basics of the ecological and physiological monitoring of plants and the optimization of the technogenic environment of large industrial centers of Belarus by means of landscaping, established the basic patterns of the influence of industrial pollutants on the energy parameters of the bioproduction process of plants and their response to anthropogenic pressures. He studied the laws of adaptability of woody plants in the conditions of technogenesis. Revealed physiological and biochemical criteria for early diagnosis of damage and prediction of the state of plant life in areas affected by industrial pollution. He performed research on the use of introduced and local woody plants as bioindicators of air pollution by industrial pollutants. Established the adaptive capacity and phytoindication significance of plant complexes in industrialized regions of Belarus, developed a mathematical model of the production process of coniferous ecosystems.
Author of over 450 scientific papers, incl. 30 monographs, 6 patents, 7 inventor certificates.
State Prize of the BSSR in the field of science and technology in 1978 for the series of works "Experimental studies of natural plant complexes of protected areas of Belarus".
Awarded with the Order of the Badge of Honor (1976), the Francisk Skaryna Medal (1998), and other medals.
