In memory of the scientist :: ZATONSKY Vladimir Petrovich

Vladimir Petrovich Zatonsky (08.08.1888, v. Lysets, Khmelnitsk region, Ukraine – 29.07.1938), state and party leader, chemist. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1933), Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1929).

— Graduated from Kiev University (1912).
— In 1913-1917 - Teacher of the Kiev Polytechnic Institute, at the same time - in charge of the chemical laboratory.
— Since December 1917 - headed the Secretariat (People's Commissariat) of Education, since March 1918 - Chairman of the CEC of Ukraine.
— In 1922-1923 and 1933-1938 - People's Commissar of Education of the Ukrainian SSR.
— In 1925-1927 - Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party (Bolshevik), in 1927-1933 - Chairman of the TsKK KP(b)U and People's Commissar of the RCT of the Ukrainian SSR.
— In 1929 - headed the commission of the Central Control Commission of the CPSU(b) on the implementation of the national policy in the BSSR.
— Member of the Presidium of the CEC of the USSR, member of the Presidium of the CEC of Ukraine.
— In 1937 - arrested, in 1938 - sentenced to capital punishment. Rehabilitated in 1956.

Conducted research and organizational work as chairman of the Committee on the Chemicalization of the National Economy of the Ukrainian SSR (1928–1934). He paid attention to the work of research institutions and the training of scientific personnel.

Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner (1921).
